Our U14s were up against it from the start against 3rd place Simpson, who had only lost 1 game for the season. Whilst our boys tried hard as always unfortunately they went down gallantly 11.12.78 to 3.3.21. Our best player was the silky left footed Frazer O’Gorman but he had some good support from Bailey Scott, Dylan Baulch, Shayden Conway, Trent Blake and Campbell Scott. Jack Featherstone along with Bailey and Frazer shared our 3 goals. The Imps will be out to get another win this week on a little bit smaller ground when we host the Western Eagles. This scribe suggests that highly talented footballers Bailey and Campbell Scott brush up on their 8-ball this week before deciding to tackle the big boys at the East Pub on a Saturday night!

Stewie McCann best on and Frazer O’Gorman kicked 4 goals. Anyone else getting a sense of de ja vu…?  The U17s score line read 8.3.51 to 9.18.72 at the end of play which seen seen a potential 10 goal+ percentage boosting win dwindled back to only 19 points. Is complacency setting in or are master coaches McKay and Morgan trying a few different things before the finals commence? If only we could delve into the inner workings of these coaching masterminds brains! Alex Lamming kicked a goal and was named second best on ground. Tom Cahill was also impressive whilst Tom Prascevic played his best game of the season. Ethan Schroder, the Seniors favourite water boy, (sorry Jack), kicked a nice goal and was also one of the better players. Kane Williamson slotted 2 and Sam “doesn’t have a curfew” Cass also kicked a goal. 

Now I am loathe to put too much internal pressure on one man but…….. ever since taking over the Captaincy of the ReservesBrandon Aranyosi has led his team of disciples to 3 wins and 0 losses. A perfect record for the bearded warrior. After beating 3rd placed Irrewarra-Beeac last week the Reserves knocked off the top side on their own ground at Simpson. Even though it sounds too good to be true, I’m not even making this up. Universal Studios are in initial discussions with head coach and one-time Oscar nominee, Rosco Brauer about producing the ‘Brandon Aranyosi Story’ should this form line continue! Now obviously it wasn’t Brandon onto 22, he had some support of course. Adam Buckle, Trav Cole, Craig Williams and Mark Ritchie all pushed for senior recalls whilst Paul O’Shannassy played his best game for the club. Mr Geary kicked 5 of the best and had some support from the face of Bowling Colac, Will Collihole, who kicked 2. Paul Maddern, Trav, Adam & Jordan Smith all kicked singles. The Imps play 8th, 10th, 11th and 9th on the run to the finals. If Burger can keep his men in check there is a real possibility of taking top spot! What a movie that will be……

Bouyed by the reserves stirring victory the Seniors had a delicious 2 goal win of their own, also taking out the top side in the process. With scores dead-locked at 1/4 time the Imps proceeded to win the next 2 quarters to set up the win. It was a finals like feel throughout the match with no possessions coming easy and scoring difficult at both ends. Beau Fenton kicked 3 telling goals and the other multiple goal kickers were Tyson Finnigan and Jeremy Spokes who kicked 2 a piece. Late replacement Shaun Finn proved his worth by slotting a handy goal, Patty O’Neill, Tom McKay and Russell Whiteford also hit the scoreboard. Defenders Sean O’Neill, Simon Scott and Adrian Murray featured among the better players as did midfielders Kyle, Russell and Jai Tillack. In wins like this it takes 22 contributors to get the job done and that is what the seniors had! The run home starts to open up now with matches against 9th, 10th & 11th in the next few weeks. Positions are tight at the minute with plenty of blokes knocking the door down in the 2s. Who’d want to be on the selection panel? Not me that is for sure….

After once being described as the 3rd best wingman in Camperdown, it is with a big smile I give a shout out and good luck to an Imperials favourite in Adrian Murray as he embarks on his journey to the AFL on the Foxtel TV Show ‘The Recruit’. U13s The team bounced back this week to win, 55-5. It took a huge effort from every player to keep Simpson to just 5 goals for the game. Jasmine Jenkins was named best on court, shooting 33 goals, while Eliza Cahill and Ruby Garner continued their great seasons, also featuring in the best 🙂

U15s Our girls enjoyed a great win, 42-19. While it was a reasonably close first half, Simpson scored just 3 goals in the second half. Another super game girls, Tara Morrissy shot 30 of our 42 goals in her best on court effort, while Naomi Clark and Chelsea Wilson had cracking games too.

U17s had another close match, taking the W, 43-37. After a convincing second quarter, Simpson managed to step up their effort in the third and last quarters to stay within reach. Tamsin Bongetti had another great game in goals, netting 31 of our 43. Renee Henry and Kayla Clark were also named in the best.

C grade The girls played well and won, 27-21. It was a competitive match throughout, and a nice one to get through unscathed! In near-arctic conditions, Richelle ‘The General’ Seuren was adjudged best on court, while Chelsea McLeod and Jodie ‘First Lady’ Hassett played flippin’ great too.

B grade Continuing the good results, B grade also had a win, 35-24. It was a solid game for the team, after a close first quarter, the girls steadied to play through the conditions and heap a few goals on to boot! Best on court went to Abby Callahan, with Brittany Tillack and Amy Ellis #ruling too.

A grade To round out the netty side of things, A grade enjoyed a win, 56-43. Again, Simpson were competitive throughout and there were only a few goals in it at half time. A super third quarter saw us extend the lead out and it was nice to finish the game on a real positive. Sarah Higgins was everywhere in her best on court effort, while Rebecca Scott shot a few (!) goals and Kate Higgins was at her zippy finest!
